Obituary: Mrs. Lady B. Helms Mulkey
Mrs. Lady B. Helms Mulkey of Slocomb went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Hartford Health Center. She was 94.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 10, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Raley and Rev. C.M. Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in Slocomb City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Mulkey was born February 1, 1919 in Geneva County to the late Will and Sallie Hallford Purvis. As a lifelong resident of Geneva County, she was a faithful member of Bethesda Baptist Church, loved her Lord and possessed a warm and gentle spirit. She adored her children and grandchildren as was a loving sister and a true friend to those who knew her and she will be missed greatly.
In addition to her parents, her husbands: Tom Helms and Guy Wood Mulkey; four brothers; two sisters; as well as a grandson, Chad Helms preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Sylvia Maine (Jim), Tacoma, WA; one son, Earl Helms (Hazel), Slocomb; two sisters: Nell Andress, Mobile and Mozelle Shirley, Cullman; three grandchildren: Tim and Terry Thorne and Tammy Furness; two great grandchildren: Briony and Kiefer Furness; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
