Mrs. Laurese Jynell McCartha Cox, 59, a resident of Ariton, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018.


A private memorial service for Mrs. Cox will be held at a later date. Condolences may be expressed at www.HolmanFuneralHome.com 


Mrs. Cox was born November 27, 1958 in Andalusia, Alabama.  She was a 1977 graduate of Carroll High School in Ozark and obtained a cosmetology certificate from Carroll High.  She loved gardening, flowers, and helping her family with their cane syrup farm.  She was dedicated to helping her family and loved her grandchildren. Mrs. Cox was active in Smith Station Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by one sister, Renee Posey and one brother, Jerome McCartha.


Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Leslie and Kyle Maley of Lexington, South Carolina, Charmaine and Shawn Davis of Salem, Alabama, Courtney Carter of Columbus, Georgia, and Kaitlin Cox of Salem, Alabama; her parents, Perrie S. McCartha and Doris Davis McCartha of Ariton; two sisters, Donna Duke of Ozark and Maria Jordan of Grand Ridge, Florida; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Perrie McCartha III of Daleville and Todd  and Lisa McCartha of Ozark; three grandchildren, Kealey Posey of Columbus, Georgia, Jaylyn Maley of Lexington, South Carolina, and Oliver Maley of Lexington, South Carolina.
