Linda Culverhouse died peacefully at home in Dothan, Alabama on Monday, October 7, 2024. Linda was 71. 

Linda, who was raised in Dothan, spent most of her adult years living in Birmingham, where she and her late husband Jim raised their son David. Linda moved back to Dothan in 2021 after Jim’s passing early that year. In recent years, she enjoyed spending time with her grand-nieces and -nephews and working in her impressive garden. She traveled often to visit her son’s family in Northern Virginia. 

Linda will be remembered as a genuinely kind and optimistic person who treated everyone she met with warmth. She was always up for an adventure, whether that was an epic shopping trip with her sister and niece, a hike with her great-grandchildren, a beach trip with her girlfriends, water sports at the lake with her grandson, skydiving with her son, or hitting the dance floor with her late husband. 

Linda is survived by her mother, Onis Smith; her son and daughter-in-law, David and Jessica Culverhouse, and grandson James; her step-daughter Elizabeth Culverhouse; her grandson and his wife, Justin and Ginger Culverhouse, and great-grandchildren Edie Kate and Xander; her sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Terry Cunningham; and her brother and sister-in-law Gary and Charlene Smith. She will also be remembered by her many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, friends, and neighbors. Linda is preceded in death by her husband, James (Jim) Culverhouse, and her father, Angus Smith. 

A celebration of life will take place later this year. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Wiregrass Humane Society.
