Mrs. Lizzie Merle Brooks of Samson passed away August 31, 2012 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. She was 82. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Samson First Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Gainey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, September 1, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Brooks was born in Covington County, AL to the late John W. Cook and Rosa Lee McDonald Cook. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen W. Brooks.

She is survived by two sons, Garry Brooks (Regina) of Westville, FL, and Ricky Brooks of Samson; three grandchildren, Tabatha, Cory and Courtney Brooks; three great grandchildren, Alexis, Hunter and Tori Mosley; one sister, Willie Pearl Paul of Samson; and several nieces and nephews.
