Obituary: Mrs. Lois Kirkland Sanders
Mrs. Lois Kirkland Sanders, a life-long resident of the Fadette Community, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 at her home. She was 86.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, in Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Slocomb with Rev. Stephen Sanders, Rev. Don Haddan and Rev. John Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Pilgrims Rest Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Slocomb, with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Lung Cancer Foundation of America, 15 S. Franklin Street, New Ulm, MN 56073 (www.lcfamerica.org).
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Sanders was born on December 15, 1925 in Geneva County, AL to the late Bascom and Ozie Singletary-Kirkland. She retired from Campbellton-Graceville Hospital as a dietitian after 15 years. She is still remembered for her delicious bakery items. Mrs. Sanders loved gardening and being surrounded by her family. She was devoted to her little church, Pilgrims Rest Primitive Baptist, and enjoyed being in charge of the Annual April Sing.
Survivors include her husband, Fern Sanders; children: Terry (Roxie) Sanders, Sharon (Wayne) Barrentine, and Stephen (Sue) Sanders; grandchildren: Roger (Rosa) Sanders, Jennifer (James) Ernest, Denise (Chuck) Middlebrooks, Lee (John) Taylor, Tim (Marlana) Sanders, Lynn (Jeremy) Baker, and Kathy (Ken) Quach; great grandchildren: John and Sam Ernest, Jack, Flanna and Bailey Middlebrooks, Zech, Anderson, and Ella Taylor, Peyton Sanders, Trey and Cieara Baker, Chris Sanders, Emma Lee, and Camden Quach.
Pallbearers will include Norbert Sprunger, Wayne Barrentine, Roger Sanders, Tim Sanders, Chuck Middlebrooks, James Ernest, Chris Sanders, Zech Taylor and Bobby Johns.
