Mrs. Lois McDuffie McCook Wise of Geneva passed away peacefully at home Friday, November 25, 2011, with her beloved daughters at her side.  She was 87 years old.  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2011, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Dr. Mike Shirah officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. Monday until time for funeral services.  Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Maple Avenue Baptist Church, 1009 W. Maple Ave., Geneva, AL  36340, to Gentiva Hospice, 2740 Headland Ave., Dothan, AL  36303 or a favorite charity.

 

Mrs. Wise was born in Geneva County on February 25, 1924, to the late Ella Roney & Daniel Gun McDuffie.  She lived most of her life in Geneva where she was a member of Maple Avenue Baptist Church.  She retired in 1988 having worked for Dr. O. D. Mitchum for over 20 years.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Marion Wise; daughter, Charlotte Jean McCook Whitten; three sisters, Clara Posey, Jean Glaze, and Eunice Hallford; a brother, Bascom McDuffie;  and son-in-law, Jacky Spears.

 

Mrs. Wise is survived by three daughters, Barbara M. Spears of Dothan; Linda M. Vaughan (Julius) of Montgomery, and Sandra M. Hill (Rob) of Mandeville, LA.  She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and sisters, Lola West (T.D.) and Connie Kersey, both of Geneva.
