Mrs. Lorene Carter of Slocomb passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015. She was 83.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at New Holy Temple Church of God in Christ Church in Slocomb with Elder Tyrone Peoples officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Flowers will be accepted.
Mrs. Carter was a member of New Holy Temple Church in Slocomb. Ms. Lorene Wilburn was a member of the Church of God In Christ in Dothan where she later married Willie Carter and had 5 girls and 3 boys. They moved to Slocomb in 1979 and she joined the New Holy Temple of God In Christ Church where she continued her membership. She was married 58 years to Willie Carter.
She is preceded in death by her mother Jessie Wilburn, father T.B. Wilburn, sister Hattie James, brothers Wallace Wilburn, Larry Wilburn, Aaron Wilburn, T.B. Wilburn, Jr., and James Wilburn.
Survivors include her husband Willie Carter of Slocomb; daughters Gloria Williams (Charles) of Panama City, FL; Debbie Boyd (Willie) of Kansas City, KS; Frankie Fagan (Isaac) of Slocomb; Joyce Perryman (Sam) of Dothan; Barbara Ann Faiison, sons Jimmy Wilburn (Gussie) of Slocombl; David Carter of Slocomb; Jimmy Lee Carter (Tina) of Slocomb; sisters Lena Mae Wilburn of Miami, FL; Jessie Mae Wilburn of Miami, FL; Mary Lewis of Dothan; grandchildren Oreo Shrine Faison, Joyce Tillman, Tommy Lee Blandenberg, Latash Blandenberg, Curtis Carter, Jason Pugh, Demko Pugh, Brittany Williams, Chad Williams, Mary Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, Vicky Johnson, Jody Hayes, Ladaviona Carter, Jolonda Lawson, great-grandchildren Shamara Johnson, Nick Johnson, Tyree Johnson, Keyonia Johnson, Zane DaBose, Ladarrian Bladnenberg, Honesty Johnson, Zaria Tillman, Xavier Tillman, Delesheshia Sanders, Christopher Donadlson, Toryano Donaldson, mother-in-law Hattie Ree Grice of Newport News, VA; brothers-in-law Bobby Carter of Dothan; John Carter (Shelia) Newport News, VA; and sister-in-law Annie Louis Brooks of Billion, SC.
