Obituary: Mrs. Louise Metcalf Strickland

Mrs. Louise Metcalf Strickland of Hartford passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 at Hartford Health Care with her loving family by her side. She was 95.  


A private graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Hartford City Cemetery with Dr. Chris Eckert officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing. 


Mrs. Strickland was born December 19, 1919 in Geneva County to the late Ramsey Lafayette and Jimmie Lee Munn  Metcalf. She was Valedictorian of the 1938 graduating class of Geneva County High School. She was a loving and compassionate wife, mother and grandmother.  Louise had a very gentle and giving spirit and will be greatly missed. 


In addition to her parents, her husband of 59 years, Dr. Hubert B. Strickland Jr. and a  brother, Neil Metcalf preceded her in death. 


Survivors include her two sons: Bernard Strickland (Robin) and Neil Strickland (Wendy) both of Dothan; four grandchildren: Britney Crain (Keith), Summer Strickland, Jeremy Strickland and Joshua Strickland; sister, Helen Dalton, Slocomb; other extended family and friends. 


The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Hartford Health Care for their loving care and support given during this difficult time.
