Obituary: Mrs. Lounnette Marie McCollough


 


Mrs. Lounnette “Marie” McCollough of Dothan, AL., passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at her home surrounded by family and friends. She was 78.


A graveside service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Howards Grove Church Cemetery in Cottonwood, Alabama with Patrick Leonard officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.


Mrs. McCollough was born on Wednesday, June 12, 1946 in Houston County, to the late Lawson Paul Gaylord and Lillie Mae Rodgers Gaylord.


Marie was full of life. She was a very honest, independent, hardworking, strong, loving, caring, and giving lady. She would give to others even when she only had a little to share. She loved her husband, Royce of 24 years. She loved her daughters, whom she raised to love Jesus and to always help others. She was a Beautician and drove the school bus for Geneva County Schools for many years. Most importantly, she was a child of God. She also loved her pets, especially her sugar gliders.


Survivors include her husband, Royce McCollough; four daughters: Lydian Marie Wray(Vince), Marice “Recie” Armstrong, Miranda Armstrong, and LaKisha Armstrong Grooms(Jason); Step Daughter: Stephanie Hannan; Pat Leonard chosen Son; Step son: Adam McCollough; grandchildren:  Anna Wright, Alexis Wray, Vince Wray, Jr., Austyn Leonard, LeLayna Grooms, Lawson Grooms, Brittnee Doss and Justin Grooms; Great grandchildren: Ariyana Nix and Bubba Nix; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.


In addition to her parents, a sister, Judith Wilson and a brother, John Lawson Gaylord proceeded her in death.


The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Gentiva Hospice and Ms. Dorothy, Hearts and Hearts Caregiving and Ms. Stella Billingsley for their love and care provided to Mrs. McCollough.
