Mrs. Luverne Grantham Johnson, a resident of Ozark, died Thursday, December 8, 2022. She was 88 years old.
Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be 2:30 P.M. Monday, December 12, 2022, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Jim Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Sunday from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P.M.
Mrs. Johnson was born December 23, 1933 in Dale County, Alabama to the late William Collie Grantham and Mattie Gertrude Averett Grantham. She worked with the Ozark City Board of Education in Ozark, retiring in 1992. Mrs. Johnson was a founding member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ozark where she served in various capacities throughout the years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ferrell L. Johnson; two sisters, Alice Curry and Alva Nichols; two brothers, Glenn Grantham and Raymond Grantham; one great grandson, Colton Andrew Johnson.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey T. Johnson (Melissa) of Anderson, South Carolina and Joseph Mark Johnson (Pam Osborn) of Ozark; five grandchildren, Lindsay Johnson, Meredith Johnson, Laura Johnson, Jefferson Zachary Johnson (Crystal) and Mallory Christine Johnson; three brothers, Clarence Grantham of Gainesville, Florida, Lee Grantham (Mary) of Daleville and Hoyt Grantham (Katheryn) of Clayhatchee; great grandchildren, Bethany Granberry and Avaleigh Johnson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Ozark Health and Rehabilitation for the caring and compassionate care they have provided. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 1971 Deese Road, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
