Mrs. Bowden was born December 31, 1940, in Geneva County to the late Harvey D. and Thelma Wise Strickland. She will be fondly remembered as “The Cupcake Lady”. She enjoyed baking cupcakes for all the kids at the daycare and also babysitting. Many of the children are now adults and it always warmed her heart as they still referred to her as “The Cupcake Lady”. One of her favorite pastimes was going to the beach with her sisters whom she loved dearly. Mrs. Bowden also enjoyed her special time hosting small tea parties for all the little girls that were so special to her. She loved her family unconditionally and was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She had a big heart with a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, one sister, Ollie Faye Chandler and two brothers, Luvoie and Leroy Strickland preceded her in death.
