Obituary: Mrs. Mamie Ethridge Free
Mrs. Mamie Ethridge Free went home to be with the Lord, Monday, September 18, 2017 at her home in Ozark. She was 78.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Slocomb with Rev. Jim Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ozark.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Mamie was born September 3, 1939 in Houston County to the late Arthur "Chal" and Gladys Sykes Ethridge. She was raised on the family farm and grew up in the Kinsey and Newton communities until moving to Wicksburg. After graduating from Wicksburg High School in 1957, she moved to Dothan and worked for N.C.R. for five years. She met the love of her life, Edward "Moe" Free and they were married and made their home in Ozark where she was employed with the Bank of Ozark for 30 years and McDonald’s Francizer for 17 years. She will be profoundly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Edward "Moe" Free; sister, Elaine Rice; brother, Shelby Ethridge; brother-in-law, Terry Free and a niece, Barbara Martin all preceded her in death.
Survivors include three brothers: Russell Ethridge (Pearle), West Columbia, SC, Grady Ethridge (Janice), Malvern and Baxter Ethridge (Kathy), Wicksburg; other nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
