Obituary: Mrs. Margaret Mathis Deal
Mrs. Margaret Mathis Deal of Wicksburg passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024 at her home. She was 85.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Piney Grove Assembly of God Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Deal was born March 7, 1939 in Dale County to the late Clyde C. and Jewel G. Carpenter Mathis. Margaret graduated from Wicksburg High School in 1957 and began work at Hartford Shirt Factory. She married her soulmate, Rev. Randall S. Deal in 1959. They began their family with four daughters, and one son. Margaret loved to sew for her children. She was a faithful and loyal companion to her husband who was a pastor for many years. She worked along beside him in his cabinet and appliance installation business for over 30 years. One of the highlights of her life was traveling to London for her 40th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Deal was a member of Piney Grove Assembly of God Church. She was a loving mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, husband, Rev. Randall S. Deal; sisters: Maxine Hurst, and Lois Bryant; brothers: Henry Mathis, Gene Mathis, and Bobby Mathis, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include children: Violet R. Ellis (Stacey), Hueytown, AL, Pamela J. Harrison, Wicksburg, AL, Ramona L. McLoyd (Terance), Wicksburg, AL, Randall L. Deal (Tammy), Echo, AL, and Starla F. Peoples (Kirk), Auburn, AL; grandchildren: Andrew Ellis (Mallory), Parker Ellis, Marlee Ellis Smith (Gage), Robert McArthur (Courtney), Mattie McArthur, Anthony McLoyd-Price (Cliff), Bethany McLoyd (Chris Caldwell), Julie Deal, Kevin Deal (Lizzy Jacobs), Mark Deal, Ariel Peoples Hamby (Stephen), Mikayla Peoples Jones (Bailey), Carter Peoples, and Carolyn Peoples; seven great grandchildren; siblings: Laquitta Mathis Morgan (Jr.), Elberta, AL, Rachel Mathis Stadler (Paul), St. Louis, MO, Carol Mathis Whitmire, Cleveland, Tx, Deborah Shehane Scott (Mitchell), Blue Springs, AL; brothers and sisters in laws; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
