Mrs. Margarette Gayvone Patterson Jordan went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 30, 2023 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 to11 A.M. Tuesday, one hour prior to the service. Flowers are being accepted and the family ask attendees to wear colorful casual attire to celebrate her life.

Margarette was born on January 6, 1943 in Holmes County Florida to Mr. Homer Lee and Annie Lee Best Best Patterson. On May 18, 1973, she married her husband of almost 50 years, Jessie Paul Jordan in Donalsonville, Georgia and made her home in Houston County Alabama.

Margarette held various professions, including sales, seamstress, upholstery, Houston County Sheriff reserve deputy, and retired as a highway technician with the State of Alabama Highway Department. She had great pride in all of her work, but was especially proud of obtaining her CDL and being able to excel at work, considered to be ‘man’s work,” such as pouring concrete and operating various types of heavy machinery.

In her spare time, she was an avid reader, researched ancestry, and love to paint, draw, basket weave, watching University of Alabama football, but her favorite activity was gardening, planting flowers and being outside with her beloved pup, Susie Q.

Margarette loved all of her family, but she was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved attending all of their activities and later in life video chatting and watching them grow through Facebook. Family reunions and keeping those connections were very important to her.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Dothan and loved her Sunday School Group until recent health issues prevented her from attending.

Margarette never met a stranger and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister.

She is preceded in death by he parents, Homer Lee and Annie Lee Patterson , siblings infant brother Kenneth, Annie Pearl Gunnells, Horace Patterson and Ruby Nell Railsback.

Survivors include her husband Jessie “Paul” Jordan, brother Joseph “Joe” Ray (Andi) Patterson, daughters Gayvone (Robert) Demers and Mellissa (Tyler) Jordan, grandchildren Clayton (Tabitha) Blackshear, Gabe Demers, Katie (Brandon) Appleby, Hannah (Ryan) Brunson, Madeline Lee, and Greyson Ulrich, great-grandchildren Keirstan Blackshear, Zoey Blackshear, Logan Blackshear, CJ Blackshear, Bella Blackshear and Emma Jane Appleby. To all of her nieces, nephews, and cousin, she loved and cherished all of you.
