Marie G. Davis passed away peacefully on April 6, 2024, in Rehobeth, Alabama, at the age of 96. Born on July 29, 1927, in Florida.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents Rev. W. E. and Carrie Habbard, daughter Hazel Dozier, brother Curtis Habbard, three sisters Rev. Myrtle Littlefield, Myrtice Miller, Vertice Skipper and son-in-law John Sims.
Marie's journey began as one of eleven siblings, and her early years in Florida were filled with the warmth of a large and loving family. Her life was further enriched when she married her beloved husband, Joseph Davis, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of 62 years. Their love was a testament to commitment and partnership, and together they raised three daughters, Helen Sims, Hazel Dozier and Karen Bullard.
Throughout her life, Marie was blessed with a large and adoring family, including her five sisters, Ruth Jones and Rev. Alice Burdeshaw (Milton), and five brothers, Wilmer Habbard (Sara), Art Habbard (Gerri), Otis Habbard, and Rev. Addis Habbard. She was a cherished grandmother to Tammy Whitehurst, Terri Lynn Baxley (Eric), Jeffrey Sims, Britt Sims (Amber), Tim Dozier (Cammie), Tony Dozier (Nicki), Pat Dozier (Shelina), Dr. Chad Mann (Haley), Caleb Mann (Jeanie), and Cara Powell (Dr. Adam Powell). Marie also had the joy of being a great-grandmother to 14 and a great-great-grandmother to three, each of whom she adored with all her heart. Her influence also extended to her numerous nieces and nephews, who will fondly remember her loving guidance and thoughtful advice.
Marie's dedication to her faith was evident in her long-standing membership at Taylor Assembly of God, where she nurtured the spiritual growth of countless individuals. As a Young Adult Sunday School Teacher and a devoted worker in the nursery for over 30 years, Marie touched the lives of many with her gentle spirit and unwavering support. She also served in various offices within the women's ministry and was known for her active participation in church life. Her commitment to her faith community was a source of inspiration and comfort to all who knew her.
In addition to her church involvement, her career spanned several industries, including working at the hosiery mill, in real estate, and the probate office. Marie's contribution to her community did not stop there; she also volunteered tirelessly at the Medical Center.
