Marilynn Cline of Malvern died on the 4th of July, 2023 at the Terrace at Grove Park in Dothan. Her son and daughter-in-law were with her.


Mrs. Cline’s funeral service will be at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Sunday, July 9 at 3 pm with interment at Memory Hill Cemetery in the Garden of Honor. Visitation with family and friends will begin at 2 pm in the chapel. The service will be officiated by Revs. Scott Cox and Harold E. Cline Jr.


Mrs. Cline was born to Clyde and Daisy (Hughes) Hall on March 10, 1934. She was a graduate of Slocomb High School in 1952 and of Kansas State University in 1960 with a BS in Education. She married Sergeant First Class Harold E. Cline July 1, 1956. The Clines had a son, Harold E. Cline Jr. while stationed at Darmstadt, Germany on October 22, 1957. After moving to Fort Riley, Kansas in the winter of 1959, the Cline family remained in Kansas until 1976 during which time Mrs. Cline taught in three different elementary schools and then became an elementary school librarian. The family moved to Alabama in 1976 with Mrs. Cline assuming duties as librarian at Slocomb Elementary and later, Slocomb High School. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma during her teaching career. Marilynn retired from education in 1999. She enjoyed needle work, antique hunting and was an avid gardener. Mrs. Cline was a member of Bay Springs Baptist Church.


Marilynn was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Sr. in 1986.


She is survived by her son, Rev. Harold E. Cline Jr. and daughter-in-law Erin (Fugini) Cline and two grandchildren: Carly and Patrick. She is also survived by her half-sister Suzanne Heath of the Bay Springs community, and cousins: James and Damarius Aman, Mancel Baxley, Dennis Collins, and Sandra Spivey.


The Cline family offers special thanks to the staff of The Terrace at Grove Park, Enhabit Hospice and Angel Hands Home Care for their attentive care of and love for Marilynn.
