Marinan Jackson Brewer, 81, died peacefully at home April 18 in Dothan, Ala., after a long illness.  Known for her vivacious personality, Marinan had many friends and loved ones, particularly at Honeysuckle Road Church of Christ in Dothan.

Survivors include husband Johnie “Buzz” Brewer and children John “Jay” Jackson, Atlanta, and Nan Jackson Boden, Mountain View, Calif. (Andy) and three grandchildren, Tyler, John and Kyle Boden, all of California.  Brother Bill Hearn (Peggy) and sister Judy Hayes (Jim) of North Alabama are among other survivors.

In addition, surviving are Buzz’s children David Brewer (Alicia), Dothan, and Johna Cripe (Ron), Indianapolis, as well as David’s children Jake, Miles and Charlee.

After the passing of their first spouses, Buzz and Marinan were introduced by mutual friends. They were married in 2001 at the Abbeville Courthouse, leaving on the back of their beloved Valkyrie motorcycle, on which they toured more than 160,000 miles across North America including all the way to Alaska, Newfoundland and all of Route 66 - multiple times.

Preceding Mrs. Brewer in death was first husband Mike Jackson, who passed away in 1997. Marinan was born into the Hearn family in Meridian, Miss., in 1941 and grew up in Sheffield, Ala., before marrying Mike in 1959. Marinan and Mike built their life and raised their children in Athens, Ala., and were dedicated members of West Hobbs Street Church of Christ.  Just prior to Mike’s sudden passing, they had moved to Walton County, Fla., enjoying the sunsets walking together on the beach.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday April 21st at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Dothan, with Honeysuckle Road minister Stewart Tullis presiding. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Gentiva Hospice in Dothan or a hospice in your local area.
