ARITON… Mrs. Marjorie Skinner Phillips, a resident of Ariton, died Monday morning, August 23, 2021, in the emergency room of Dale Medical Center. She was 92.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 26, 2021, in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Lee Windham, Reverend Jason Hughes and Reverend Joey Pettis officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Phillips, daughter of the late Talmer Skinner and Effie Estelle Paulk Skinner, was a native of Greene County, Alabama and moved to Ariton at an early age. She was an avid Atlanta Braves Baseball Fan. One of the highlights of her life, was being able to run the bases in Atlanta on Grandparents Day. Mrs. Phillips enjoyed watching her grandsons play ball and cooking for family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Samuel Phillips; infant son; a grandson, Chris Beckon; two sisters, Lillian Wilson and Sharon Peters.
Surviving relatives include four daughters, Beulah Peavy (Larry), Ariton, Debbie Beckon (Ronnie), Fortson, Georgia, Lisa Harden (Bart), Ariton, and Carla Bailey (Mike), New Hope; her son, Stanley Phillips (Jeanie), Spring, Texas; brother, Rodney Skinner, Guntersville; thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Brian Peavy, Jonathan Peavy, Matt Harden, Brian Kilpatrick, Brock Lambert, Brad Peavy, and Bryce Peavy. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Easton Kilpatrick, Hobie Peavy, Trey Peavy, Eli Harden, and Jax Windham.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center, Ozark Health & Rehabilitation Facility, and Dale Medical Center for their loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Phillips and her family.
