Mrs. Martha J. White Martin, formerly of Eufaula, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 after a short battle with dementia.                              


Born April 11, 1931 in Geneva County to the late Jesse Pounce and Ouida Swann White, Martha married Herman T. Martin on March 30, 1948 in Phenix City, Alabama. Together they raised three children in Brevard County, Florida where they lived for over 30 years. In 1991 they moved to Dothan and lived there until Herman’s death in 1997. Martha lived the remainder of her wonderful life in Eufaula, Alabama.


In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Herman T. Martin, her sister, Vivian Bryan, her son, Randy L. Martin, her daughter, Charlene Riddle; and her nephew, David Woods.


Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Shriver of Cottonwood, AL; her daughter-in-law, Sanna Faye Shumway, Louisville, AL; her son-in-law, Larry Riddle, Hartselle, AL; her sister, Mary F. (Charles) Woods, Geneva County, AL; her brother, Harold L. (Sylvia) White, Melbourne, FL; her grandchildren, Randy Lane Martin, II, Mikel Herman Martin, and Ashley Orr; her great-grandchildren, Randy L. Martin III, Noah James Martin, Jacob Orr, Brooklyn Orr, and Tyler Orr; nieces and nephews, Rick (Denise) Bryan, Connie (Pete) Noble, Jimmy (Mark Starkey) Bryan, Gina (Tom) Guill, Beth Bryan, and Noah White; many loving great-nieces and nephews throughout Florida, Alabama, and Ohio; and plenty of good-time friends in the dance halls and honky-tonks.


Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Monday, July 3, 2017 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 PM until 3 PM prior to the service.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made toward funeral arrangements.
