Obituary:  Mrs. Mary Ellen Watts


 


Mrs. Mary Ellen Watts of the Wicksburg Community passed away Monday, December 27, 2021, at Flowers Hospital.  She was 88. 


Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021, at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Allen Singley officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Mrs. Watts’ grandsons will serve as pallbearers. 


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Mrs. Watts’ memory with your contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project, Disabled American Veterans, or to Pilgrim Home Baptist Church. 


Mrs. Watts was born September 9, 1933, in Laurens, South Carolina to the late Rev. John Hugh and Lola Belle Garrett Hazle. 


In addition to her parents, her husband, US Army LTC (Ret) James H. Watts, Jr.; and sisters: Dorothy E. Gray, and Evelyn S. Byars all preceded her in death. 


Survivors include her children: Rev. Cecelia Ellingwood (Robert Dale), Lynn Glenn (Joseph), Teresa Grimes (Warren), James Michael Watts (Lisa), and CMSgt (Ret.) Charles Robert Watts (Amber); grandchildren: Robert Dale “BJ” Ellingwood, Jr. (Torri), Brandy Lyn Johnson (Kenneth), Justin Michael Watts, Sidney Hudgens Watts (Brandi), Rachael L. Ball (David Wayne), Kaeli Alexis Watts, Makenna Avylon Watts, Joseph Alexander Glenn, Andrew Hudgens Glenn, Emily Lauren Grimes, and Jacob Warren Grimes (Valerie); great grandchildren: Lexi Johnson, Mckenzie Johnson, Eliana Huerta-Brentise, Riley Watts, Macie Ellingwood, Ezra Ellingwood, and Makinzie “Shoogie” Thomas; nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
