Mrs. Mary Estelle Lassiter Sawyer, age 78, a resident of Slocomb, died Friday March 23, 2018 following a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018 at the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim Simmons officiating and Kendall Glover directing. Burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery near Fadette.
The family will be receiving friends from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Sunday prior to services at Glover Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sawyer was born on October 22, 1939 in Houston County the daughter of Wilmer “Damon” Cecil Lassiter and Elvie Kirkland Lassiter. Mrs. Sawyer worked for 12 years as a machine operator with Van Heusen in Hartford and she was a member of the Hartford Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby James Sawyer; 2 sisters, Sybil Holden and Sheila Mitchell; 2 brothers, Lewis Lassiter and Larry Lassiter.
Survivors include: daughter, Dora Kay Helms (John), Slocomb; two sons, James Michael Sawyer and Christopher Paul Sawyer, both of Slocomb; 3 sisters, Lounell Baxley (Howell), Fadette; Melba Grace Smith (Jimmy), Slocomb; Debra Fawler (Ray), Graceville, FL.; 3 brothers, James Rex Lassiter, Fadette; Cecil Drex Lassiter, Fadette; Ricky Lassiter (Judy), Dothan; 4 grandchildren, Brian Childree, Chad Helms, Travis Helms and Katie Helms; 5 great-grandchildren, Dalyas Childree, Tristian Childree, Emma Helms, Hannah Helms and Sabastian Helms; 2 sisters-in-law, Gail Lassiter and Dianne Lassiter both of Fadette; 1 brother-in-law, Lamar Holden, Graceville, FL.; several nieces & nephews.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
