Mary Evelyn Cherry Tolar, a resident of Pansey, Alabama died Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle. She was 96.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tolar will be held at 2 PM Friday, June 7, 2024 at Springhill Free Will Baptist Church with Bryant Register and Fred Bacher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Tolar was born May 23, 1928 in Houston County to the late Elvy and Gladys Harrison Cherry. She worked at Harmon School in the lunchroom, was a seamstress at Wex-Tex and later sat with the elderly in her community. Mrs. Tolar had a knack for crafting, quilting and sewing. She also loved being outdoors working in her flower beds and tending to her garden. She was a member of Springhill Free Will Baptist.
Mrs. Tolar is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everette Faye Tolar; son, Terry Faye Tolar, grandson, John Steven Tolar; great granddaughter, Bethany Anne Cook; sister, Mavis Berryhill and Elner Best and a brother, Humax Cherry.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Elmore, Cheryle Jean Cook (Floyd), Marilyn Holmes; son, Everette Lamar Tolar (Amie) eighteen grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren and extended family.
