Obituary: Mrs. Mary Hodges Brackin
Mrs. Mary Hodges Brackin of Hartford passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at her residence. She was 77.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, at Hartford Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Kroll, Rev. Bruce Spivey and Dr. Ralph Brannon officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. and continue until service time.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Hartford Baptist Church or Hartford Rescue Squad.
Mrs. Brackin was born October 22, 1935 to the late B.J. and Mamie Smith Hodges. She was a faithful member of Hartford Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday School Class for many years. Mrs. Brackin owned and operated Raggedy Ann & Andy Daycare for 15 years. She loved teaching and caring for the children in the Hartford area. Mrs. Brackin was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents one brother, J.T. Hodges preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, James Lamar Brackin, Hartford; four sons: Michael Brackin (Alisa), Smith Station, Larry Brackin (Sandy), Russellville, Steve Brackin (Melinda), Covington, GA and Stacey Brackin, Hartford; two sisters: Martha Smith, Blountstown, FL and Viletta Sabestian, Winterspring, FL; special niece, Virginia Hughes (Roy), Hartford; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
