MALVERN…Mrs. Mary Lou Smith, a resident of Malvern, died early Saturday afternoon, July 20, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. She was 88.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 27, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Hilburn Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Smith, daughter of the late Early Buford Fleeman and Azalee Pullian Fleeman, was a native of Rauston, Georgia. She formerly lived in Clearwater, Florida and Wicksburg before moving to Malvern in 2023. Mrs. Smith retired from Hollis Dairy after several years of employment. Some of her favorite things that brought her enjoyment were puzzle books, watching the tv series, NCIS, flashlights, chocolates, and most of all her family. Mrs. Smith was a member of Higher Praise Ministries in Hartford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Smith, Jr., daughter, Ruby Walls, grandson-in-law, William Champion, II, siblings, Lorine Pulliam, Robert Fleeman, Thomas Fleeman, Jasper Fleeman, Coylee Fleeman, and Pearlie Joyner.
Surviving relatives include her daughters, Mary Ann Nail, Tarpon Springs, Florida and Kimberly Ann Cureton and husband, James, Fountain, Florida; son, Jimmy Mock and wife Lisa, Enterprise; brother, Gaythal Fleeman and wife, Ruby, San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Natasha Sanders, Crystal Thornton and husband, Jamaine, Travis Love and wife, Carol, Jamie Love and wife, Jaleesya, Scotty Nail, Darryl Nail, Tabitha Davis, and Todd Mock; several great-grandchildren including, Dillon Sanders and wife, Hunter and Joshua Sanders and wife, Bralynn; several great-great-grandchildren, including Addison Sanders, Nova Sanders, and Brynnleigh Sanders; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Joshua Sanders, Dillon Sanders, Travis Love, Jamie Love, Jamaine Thornton, and James Cureton.
