Mrs. Mary Lou Taylor Watkins, age 81, a resident of Ashford, died early Saturday December 5, 2015 at the SAMC after a brief illness with her husband and daughter by her side.


The family will be receiving friends at the Glover Funeral Home parlor on Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.


In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, Al. 36302.


Mrs. Watkins was born on January 24, 1934 in Cicerone, West Virginia the daughter of Teddy Roosevelt Taylor and Etta Marie Shafer Taylor.  She was a graduate of Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe, La., and a member of the Pike Road Baptist Church.  Mrs. Watkins moved to Dothan from Cecil, Alabama in 1998 and moved to Ashford in 2008.  She enjoyed reading, flower arranging and QVC shopping channel.


She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ted R. Taylor and a granddaughter, Katelyn Nicole Boyd. 


Survivors include: husband of 56 years, Bill Watkins, Ashford; daughter, Lynn Boyd (Charlie), Ashford; step-son, William Conrad Watkins, Dallas, Tx.; 2 granddaughters, Madison Boyd, Ashford and Jade Watkins, Austin, Tx.; 2 sisters, Martha Shearer (Glenn), Latana, Tx.; Connie Young (Greg), Spring, Tx.; 3 nieces, Dana Foust, Monroe, La.; Patricia Grace (Steve), Little Rock, Ark.; Kerri Dakin (Ken), Lantana, Tx.; nephew, Brent Shearer, Spring, Tx.; several great nieces & great nephews.


Glover Funeral Home of Dothan has been entrusted with the arrangements.
