Mrs. Mary Louise Murphy “Lou” Wright passed away Monday, July 15, 2019 at the age of 96.



 



Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bob Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.



 



Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 3 P.M. Sunday, one hour prior to the service.



 



Mrs. Wright was born September 20, 1922, in Cincinnati, Ohio. The daughter of the late James Bernard Murphy and Lela Batson Murphy. She spent her childhood on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She graduated from Gulfport High School in 1940 and graduated from Gulf Park College in Long Beach, MS. She met her husband Sidney Harper “Boo” Wright, Jr. of Dothan, Al. while he was attending Gulf Coast Military Academy in Gulfport, MS. They were married December 25, 1942 and moved to Dothan after he served in the Army during World War II.



 



She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Dothan. Mainly a homemaker, she worked at Dothan Oil Mill Company part time for several years. She was a very talented and accomplished seamstress. She was an avid Barbie Doll collector and loved cats.



 



She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, a daughter, Karen Blackwood, a sister, Lela Ann Dexter and a grandson, Ray Baldwin.



 



Survivors include her son Sidney Harper Wright, III and wife Margo of Dothan; her daughter, Mary Baldwin and husband, Charles of Dothan; grandson Chris Blackwood of Fairhope, AL.; granddaughters, Julianne Wright of Dothan; Elizabeth Baldwin Camp and husband Joel of Webster, FL.; Donna Baldwin Dean husband Todd of Bella Vista, AR.; great-grandchildren, Sidney and Brent Helms of Webster, FL; Clay Dean and wife Madison and Ashley Sewell of Bella Vista, AR.; Lindsey and Rae Leigh Baldwin of Headland, AL.; Denice and Karen Blackwood of Fairhope, AL.; and Jordana Wright of Dothan, AL.



 



The family extends heartfelt thanks to her beloved friend and devoted caregiver, Mattie Graham.
