Obituary: Mrs. Mary Magdaline Rash Strickland
Mrs. Mary Magdaline Rash Strickland of Slocomb passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at SAMC. She was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, at First Baptist Church of Slocomb with Rev. Dan Raley officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Slocomb, 225 North Dalton St., Slocomb, AL 36375.
Mrs. Strickland was born on November 18, 1925 in Henry County to the late John Arthur and Clorinda Rebecca Kirkland Rash. As a faithful Christian, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Slocomb for many years. Affectionately known as “Bubba” to her grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous others that loved her, she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, husband of 55 years, Richard Raymond Strickland; siblings: Jewel Kelly, Talmadge Rash and Lorraine Shehane all preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters: Gloria Rogers (Joe Earl), Dothan and Tonya Maurice (Craig), Madison; four grandchildren: Joe Earl Roger, Jr., Pensacola, FL, Michele Mynard (Jody), Enterprise, Brandon Hendrix and Grant Hendrix (Lakresha) both of Slocomb; eight great grandchildren: Noah Mynard, Hannah Mynard, Hope Mynard, Camryn Rogers, Madison Rogers, Justin Rogers, Jarrett Hendrix and Addison Hendrix; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the entire staff of Westside Terrace for the love and care given to “Bubba” and shown to their entire family.
