Mrs. Mattie Pearl Gentry Barfield, a resident at Extendicare died Sunday, February 19, 2012. She was 96.
Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday, February 22, 2022, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Howards Grove Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Flowers will be accepted.
Mrs. Barfield was born January 24, 1916, in Florida, the daughter of the late Thomas Gentry and Allie Parker Gentry. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cottonwood. She was a native of Houston County and lived most of her life in Cottonwood.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Travis Barfield, and sisters, Ruthie Gentry and Bernice Eldridge.
Survivors include niece, Sara Wright, Bonnie Dansby, nephews, Carlos Eldridge, Leonard Eldridge, Randal Eldridge, several great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
