Mrs. Mavis M. Gray Lindsey of Geneva, Alabama went home to be with the Lord Thursday, November 26, 2015.  She was 83.


Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2015 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Dr. James Preachers officiating.  Burial will follow in the Meadowlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Enterprise with Warren Holloway Ward directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday beginning at 12 noon and continue until service time.


Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice.


Mrs. Lindsey was born April 9, 1932, in Geneva County, Alabama to the late Ernest Dow and Letha Mae Hornsby Gray.  She was a very active member of the Geneva Senior Center.  At one time she held the title of Senior Ms. Geneva County and later competed in the Senior Ms. Wiregrass pageant where she won 1st Runner up.  She had a passion for needle work.  Mt. Carmel Baptist Church was blessed to have her as a member.  She was very active in the church and enjoyed participating in the choir.  Mavis was a very special lady and will be missed by everyone who knew her.


In addition to her parents, her husband, Perry L. Lindsey, and one sister, Avis Summerlin preceded her in death.


Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Alain Coutu of Sunny Hills, FL; three sisters: Maxine Hagler of Ozark, AL, Marie Brackins of Newton, AL and Merlene Wiggins of Ozark, AL; closest dear friend, Ralph Ward of Samson, AL; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
