OZARK…Mrs. Mayre Jo McCartney Knox, a resident of Ozark, died Friday evening, August 23, 2024, at her home. She was 96.
In keeping with the wishes of the family, there are no public services planned at this time. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Knox, daughter of the late Bruce Wallace McCartney and Flora Edith Craw McCartney, was a native of Connellsville, Pennsylvania. She will always be remembered as a wonderful mother, excellent cook, and enjoyed fishing. Mrs. Knox was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-three years, William “Bill” Knox; daughter, Barbara F. Knox Hastings; siblings, Jane Evelyn Mitchell, Betty Edith Matuschek, Ruth Ann Colborn, William Edward “Bill” McCartney, Wallace Bruce McCartney, and Thomas A. McCartney.
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Susan Knox, Ozark; William “Bill” Knox, II (CW2, United States Army, Retired) and wife, Maria, Ariton; four grandchildren, Lindsey Rogers, Matt Hastings, Katie Knox, Madison Knox; three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Rogers, Barrett Rogers, and Judge Polk; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
