Obituary: Mrs. Mildred Bernell Caraway Cassady
Mrs. Mildred Bernell Caraway Cassady of Hartford passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at SAMC. She was 88.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2018 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Slocomb with Bro. Chuck Nordstrom officiating. Interment will follow in the Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Bernell’s memory with your contribution to the Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
Mrs. Cassady was born June 29, 1929 in Geneva County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Porter Jaro Caraway. Bernell was a devoted women of faith, member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, adoring mother and grandmother who treasured cooking and spending time with her family. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed fishing and singing alto to her favorite gospel songs.
In addition to her parents, her husband, William Royce Cassady; sister, Bertha Norris; and brother, Troyce Caraway all preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Lynn Nolin (Dewey), Hartford; a son, David Cassady (Shirley), Hartford; grandchildren: Jason Nolin (Liz), Carrie Hess (Jesse), Jennifer Stringer (Johnny), Matthew Cassady (Kiley), Ashley Cassady, and Brandon Cassady; great grandchildren: Hannah Nolin, Jadon Nolin, Taylor Shelley, Erin Shelley, Cayden Hess, Jaxon Hess, Madison Beard and Kinleigh Cassady; a niece; nephews; other extended family; special cousin, Maurine Hamm; special friend, Hazel Skinner; and especially all her friends at Hartford Retirement Village.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Hess, Jason Nolin, Matthew Cassady, Milan Sanders, Stacy Sanders and Michael Sanders.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her niece, Lesa Hatfield (Mickey) and nephews: Eria Sorrells (Shirley), James Earl Sorrells (Sharon), Joel Sorrells (Annice), Terry Sorrells (Teri Lynn) and Perry Sorrells (Kim).
