Mrs. Miriam Roberta Paulk Batchelor, a resident of Ariton, died Friday, December 27, 2019, at her home, the day before her 92nd birthday.
Funeral services for Mrs. Batchelor will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 29, 2019, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Pastor Randy Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Ariton Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until service time.
Mrs. Batchelor was born December 28, 1927 in Dale County to the late Robert Emmett Paulk and Minnie Lucille Ivey Paulk. She was of the Assembly of God Faith. Mrs. Batchelor lived in various places while her late husband served in the United States Air Force until 1967 when they returned to make Ariton their home. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked with Ozark Health and Rehabilitation and Troy Regional Medical Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Cowart Batchelor; and two grandsons, Jeff Michael Batchelor and Jesse John Anderson.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Jerry Byrd of Ariton, Barbara and Johnny Anderson of Brundidge; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Carolyn Batchelor of Ariton, Jake and Dixann Batchelor of Elba; eleven grandchildren, Carla (Jimmy) Sammons of Dothan, Robbie (Ami) Batchelor of Commerce, GA, Malissa (Howard) Simpson of Jacksonville, NC, Anthony Batchelor of Tampa, FL, Michelle (Joe) Ridgeway of Hoschton, GA, Brian (Kendra) Byrd of Ariton, Steven (Jordan) Byrd of Ariton, Joshua (Lyndsey) Anderson of Auburn, Jonathan (Ashley) Batchelor of San Antonio, TX, Casey Franklin and Ashley Franklin of Luverne. Twenty great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren also survive.
