Mrs. Myrl Simmons Brown of Samson, Alabama passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012. She was 93.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral with Rev. Gene Hauser officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday beginning 1:00 p.m. and continue until service time.
The family asked that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the Wiregrass Nursing Home.
Mrs. Brown was born September 11, 1918, in Dale County, Alabama to the late Sam and Donie Paramore Simmons. After several years of service she retired from Wex Tex. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Samson.
In addition to her parents, two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons: Russell Brown (Linda), Geneva and Rodney Brown (Kay) Pensacola, FL; four grandchildren: Josh and Zach Brown both of Pensacola, Stephen Brown (Joette), Jasper, AL, Leigh Foster (Brad), Auburn, AL; three great-grandchildren: Kelley Brooke Brown, Jasper, Olivia Clarie Foster and Brooks Bradley Foster, both of Auburn; two sisters: Etta Bottoms, Houston, TX and Dorothy Walker, Eufaula; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
