Mrs. Myrle Elmore Rollins of Zephryhills, Florida took her last breath on earth and walked with Jesus into heaven on July 3, 2023. She passed peacefully in the care of Hospice surrounded by her loved ones. She lived a blessed and full life to 101 years of age.
Graveside services will be held at Ashford City Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 7th from 10:00am – 11:00am at Ward Wilson Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.
Mrs. Rollins (Mema) was born November 24, 1921 in Houston County, Alabama to Willie E. and Ethel Lee McNeil Elmore. She later married Curtis Frank Rollins (deceased) of Columbia, Alabama. Having resided in Columbia, Alabama most of her life she moved to St Leo, Florida in 2005 after the passing of her husband to be near her son. In 2017 she became a resident of Heartland Manor of Zephyrhills, Florida. She took pride in being the oldest resident and was beloved by both residents and staff. Her enjoyment of giving never stopped in her later years as she was known for her snacks and loved to share while she rolled through the hallways checking in on residents and staff.
Mrs. Rollins was the last surviving of 7 siblings. She was preceded in death by two Brothers E.R. Elmore and J.J. Elmore and her sisters Bulah Mae Elmore, Lucille Scott, Willie Lee Strickland and Odis Ozelma Huddleston.
She is survived by her son Lucious Frank ( Buddy) Rollins and his wife Charlott of Dade City, Florida; her granddaughter and husband, Kaye and David Cronin of Tampa, Florida; her great-granddaughter Madison Grace Cronin and her great-grandson Cody Michael Cronin both of Tampa, Florida. Two sisters-in-law Martha Ballard of Ashford, Alabama and Nell Elmore of Cowarts, Alabama.
Mrs. Rollins was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church. Her faith in God is what brings us comfort as we know that we will once again be with our cherished Mom and Memaw one day. While we remain here on earth we hold tight to our memories and the love that she poured into us all.
