Mrs. Anderson was born October 1, 1927, daughter of the late Jesse and Dora Godwin. She was the oldest of a large family including brothers Thomas (Bobbie) Godwin and Paul Godwin, and sisters Agnes (Tommy) Watkins, Lillian (Sam) Willis, Peggy (Jerry) Reynolds, Levene (Kenneth) Johnson, and Sue (Max) Corbin. Mrs. Anderson lived in and around the Dothan area throughout her life. She was a beautiful Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She learned to be a caregiver and mother at a very early age, caring for her siblings beginning at the young age of 7. In meeting her husband for the first time, she said “It was love at first sight.” which was indicated by their long marriage of 57 years. She worked hard, raising a Christian family and helping her husband run multiple businesses. She was kind, considerate, and loving. Her deep and abiding faith was a guide and inspiration to all that knew and loved her. She impacted many people, brought joy to our lives and will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leroy Anderson.

Mrs. Anderson was blessed with four surviving children, Carolyn (Darrell) Snellgrove, Ariton, Alabama; David Phillip Anderson, Decatur, Alabama; Tolton (Belinda) Anderson, Dothan, Alabama; and Susan Hardgrave, Huntsville, Alabama. Mrs. Anderson was also honored with five grandchildren, Lee Waller, Vena Kay (Tim) Fisher, Chip (Nikki) Anderson, Shonda (Wesley) Bedingfield, and Stephanie (Jason) Parker. In addition, Mrs. Anderson treasured and loved her 10 great-grandchildren.
