Natalie Scott Williams, a resident of Cottonwood, died Wednesday May 2, 2012 at her residence. She was 82.


Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Williams will be held at the family residence, 121 Lewis Street on Saturday May 5, 2012 at 4 PM. A memorial service will also be held in Atlanta, Georgia on May 26 at 2 PM.


Mrs. Williams was born and raised in Hampton, Virginia and was a lifelong educator. She graduated from Hampton Institute and earned a Masters Degree from the University of North Carolina and also the University of Chicago. Mrs. Williams was retired from the Fayetteville, North Carolina School System having taught at E. E. Smith High School and Fayetteville State University. After retirement, she taught in the Virgin Islands for another 20 years teaching at Central High School and the College of the Virgin Islands. Mrs. Williams was a world traveler having traveled to six continents and spreading a message of peace to those communities around the world.


Mrs. Williams is survived by her children, Owen B. Williams (Fabrianenne), Fayetteville, NC, Ora Wright (Kevin), Atlanta, GA, Audri Scott Williams, Cottonwood, Karen Watson, Cottonwood, Jackie Walker, Long Island, NY; grandchildren, Owen Williams, Adrian Williams, Aniya Williams, Patricia Wright, Maria Wright, Jon Ware, Nicholas Ware and Michael Ware; several great grandchildren; sisters Eleanor Pritchett and Audrey Cobb, both of Hampton, Virginia; brother, Frank Williams, Landover, Maryland; several nieces and nephews.


Mrs. Williams will be missed by all as well as many communities around the world. The family would also like to thank the staff of AlaCare Hospice for their love and support shown during this time and especially her nurse, Angela.
