Mrs. Olbia Brackin Mixon, a resident of Madrid, AL, went to be with her Lord on March 12, 2018. She was 92 years old.


 


Mrs. Mixon was born March 7, 1926 in Dale County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Albert O. Brackin and Ada Hoffman Brackin. She was a graduate of Rehobeth High School in 1946. She was married in 1948 to her high school crush and moved to the Madrid area and became a loved member of the community and church. She was an active member of Madrid Baptist Church and served as a teacher for 63 years. She had a love for children and many of her friends speak of her kindness for others and love for her Saviour. Her hobbies were her family, baking and cake decorating, entertaining her Camilla Home Extension Club members, and winning the Peanut Festival Recipe Contest.


 


She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Audrey Brackin, and mother-in-law, Inez Norris Mixon.


 


She is survived by her husband of 70 years, James Travis Mixon; a son, Tony (Anita) Mixon; daughters, Susan (Max) Tyson and Elizabeth Rich, all of the Madrid Community; son-in-law, Greg Hayes, Dothan, AL; sister, Melba Bradford, Dothan, AL; brothers, Albert (Mary Nell) Brackin, California, Athol (Gloria) Brackin, Enterprise, AL, and Mike (Gloria) Brackin, Dothan, AL; grandchildren, Blake Mixon, Erin Hayes, Charlotte (Jimmy) Keen, Steven Hayes, and Mary Ashley (Trent) Ford; great-grandchildren, Payton and Ella Grace Keen and Hayden Ford; step-grandchildren, Melissa Tyson, Sherry Bullard, Angel (Will) Reigelsperger, and Ty (Rachel) Tyson; numerous great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and a special niece, June Brannon.


 


Funeral services will be held at her home church of 70 years, Madrid Baptist Church, on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 11 AM. Burial will follow immediately in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM, one hour prior to the service.


 


Serving as active pallbearers will be Blake Mixon, Steven Hayes, Jerry Mixon, Joe Mixon, Greg Hayes, and Brad Backin.
