Mrs. Onnie Jewel Killingsworth of Slocomb passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Hartford Health Care.  She was 90.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, in Burns Church with Rev. Steve Etheridge officiating.  Burial will follow in Burns Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time.  

The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 1:00 until service time. 

Mrs. Killingsworth was born on August 29, 1921 in Dale County, AL to the late George H. and Maggie Roberts.  She married W. C. “Bill” Killingsworth.  She grew up in Dale County and attended school at Newton, AL.  She married “Bill” Killingsworth on September 3, 1938 at Newton.  She moved to the Burns Church community in 1942 where she was a member the rest of her life.  She served as the Superintendent and Secretary of Sunday School.

he was a member of the Slocomb Senior Citizens’ Advisory Board since the early 80’s until October 2008 when she retired as an honorary member.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. C. “Bill” Killingsworth; parents:  George and Maggie Roberts; one brother:  C. J. (Junior) Roberts; and a nephew:  Edwin Roberts.

Survivors include two nephews who are special:  M. Erwin Roberts of Wicksburg, Ronnie Roberts of Dothan; one niece:  Judy Roberts Saunders of Wicksburg; several great nieces and nephews; three special nephews and their wives:  Rufus and Inga Killingsworth of Southerland, VA, Wallace and Phylis Killingsworth of Lakeland, FL, Robert and Shirley Killingsworth of Phenix City; two special nieces:  Irene Killingsworth Hobson of Columbus, GA and Hilda Roberts of Niceville, FL; special friends:  my church family, Senior Citizen family, Wayne and Sylvia Taylor of Dothan, Nell Dawsey and Nina Williford of Slocomb, all my loved ones at Nursing Home who all were so sweet and caring.
