Obituary: Mrs. Patricia Ann Bailey Merritt
Mrs. Patricia Ann Bailey Merritt of Slocomb went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 8, 2019. She was 83.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Slocomb with Rev. Larry Newton and Rev. David Williams officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Interment will follow in the Malvern Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m
Mrs. Merritt was born November 12, 1935 in Geneva County to the late Oswald S. and Opal Williford Bailey. Patricia was a business owner and a leader in the community and was known for her volunteer work. She possessed a selfless spirit, was dedicated to the success of her church, Slocomb First Baptist, and the Slocomb community. She was the church organist for many years and served on various committees. Above all else, she was a loving wife, adoring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be profoundly missed.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Billy Joe Merritt Sr. preceded her in death
Survivors include two sons: James Bailey "Jamey" Merritt (Angie), Slocomb and Billy Joe "Joey" Merritt Jr. (Susie), Malvern; five grandsons: Joseph Bradley Merritt (Ashlee), Jameson Reid Merritt (Abby), William Chase Merritt (Cidney), Will Bailey Merritt and James Lee Merritt; three great grandchildren: Joseph Brady Merritt, Avery Grace Merritt, and Jameson Rhett Merritt; brother, Sammy Bailey; nephew, Bret Bailey (Tammy); and other extended family and friends.
