Mrs. Pauline McCormick Stanley of Westville, Florida (Royals Cross Roads Community) passed away quietly after a short illness at the Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva, AL surrounded by loved ones and friends on Thursday, August 16, 2012.  She was 83.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 19, in the Leonia Baptist Church with Rev. Rodd Jones and Rev. Stacey Stafford officiating.  Mrs. Stanley will be placed into the church one hour prior to service time.  Burial will follow in the Hurricane Creek Baptist Church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, August 18, from 6 until 8 p.m.  At all other times the family will be at her home located at 1187 Hwy 2, Westville.

The family asked that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the Leonia Baptist Church Building Fund, 1124 Gillman Rd., Westville, FL 32464.

Mrs. Stanley was born May 16, 1929, in Geneva County, Alabama to the late William “Bill” and Etta Mae Morris McCormick.  After working 51 years in the shirt factory industry for West Tex/Covington Industries in Samson, AL she decided to retire in 1998 to devote her time to doing the things she loved; which was being more active in her community and church, working in her flower beds and vegetable gardens.  After a few months into her retirement she found herself needing to fill the “work” void in her life.  Thus, she found a new calling for her and Perry.  She decided they would become a baby sitter.  Never did they envision the love, happiness, and joy one little boy named “Crete” would bring to their lives.   She was a member of Leonia Baptist Church where she served in many different capacities.  Everyone that knew her will remember her for her faith and dedication to God, her strong work ethics, and for being a loving wife, mother, friend and neighbor.

In addition to her parents her husband, Perry D. Stanley, Jr., and a sister Voncille McCormick, preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Charlie D. “Chuck” and Linda Stanley, Westville, FL; one sister, Lorene Johnson, Florala, AL; two brothers: Wilbur H. “Buddy” McCormick, Samson, AL and Bennie McCormick, Florala, AL; other extended family and friends.
