Obituary: Mrs. Pearl Chavis Brooks
Mrs. Pearl Chavis Brooks of Slocomb finished her earthly journey Tuesday morning, July 9, 2013 at Signature Health Care, Graceville, FL. She has now made her home with Jesus Christ and all her loved ones that had already been called home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 12 at Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill at 11:30 a.m. with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 until 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Brooks was born December 4, 1929 in Geneva County to the late Marvin and Bertie Chavis. She was a 1949 graduate of Slocomb High School. Pearl was employed with Warner Bros, for some 20 years and continued her working career with Sony until she retired. She was a member of Fadette Pentecostal Ministries.
In addition to her parents, her earthly love, Calvin Spencer Brooks; one sister, Willa Ruth Chavis and one brother, Haywood Chavis all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis Kirkland (Junior), Slocomb; three grandchildren: Tanya Kirkland, Dothan, Chasity Causey (Guy), Midland City and Josh Kirkland (Kaitlyn), Slocomb; five great-grandchildren: Summer Nelson, Emma, Gabbie, Alli Kate Causey and Olivia Kirkland; three sisters-in-law; Ruby Sizemore, Merle Harden (Ben) and Imogene Brooks; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff at Signature Health Care in Graceville, FL for the loving care given to their mother, grandmother and MeMaw for the past twenty-one months.
