LONGSTREET COMMUNITY…Mrs. Peggy Hornsby Lewis, a resident of the Longstreet Community, near Ozark, died Friday morning, May 6, 2022, at her home. She was 87.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 10, 2022, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mark Brantley officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Longstreet Cemetery Fund, c/o Ronnie Snellgrove, 1480 CR 143, Ozark, AL 36360.


            Mrs. Lewis, daughter of the Lemuel Hornsby and Bessie Clark Hornsby, was a native of the Snellgrove’s Mill Community in Coffee County and has lived in the Longstreet Community since the early 1950’s. She was retired from Commercial Bank in Ozark as a bank teller. Mrs. Lewis was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, Billy D. Lewis and all her brothers and sisters.


            Surviving relatives include her son, Scott Lewis, Ozark; two grandchildren, Judd Lewis (Madison) and Emily Lewis; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law; several nieces and nephews.
