Obituary: Mrs. Peggy Lois Jerkins Capron
Mrs. Peggy Lois Jerkins Capron of Hartford passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at her home. She was 85.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2014 at First United Methodist Church of Hartford with Rev. Jimmy Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Hartford Building Fund, 100 E. Mill St. Hartford, AL 36344.
Mrs. Capron was born October 27, 1928 in Geneva to the late George and Ethel Daughtry Jerkins. Peggy met the love of her life, Arthur Daniel Capron Sr., while she worked for the United States Air Force special services in Okinawa, Japan as Art was convalescing in the hospital after being wounded during the Korean Conflict. They were happily married for over 50 years. She was a devoted wife, loving and nurturing mother, talented artist and an avid Alabama fan.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Art; five sisters: Jewell Miller, Lucy Boone, Mary Nell Cobb, Sara Gay and Agnes Alene Jerkins all preceded her in death.
She is cherished and loved by her four children: Arthur D. Capron Jr. (Mary Jane), Carrie Kimberly Portela (Manuel), Sara Gay McNutt (Michael) and Laura Susan Shultz (Richard). She was blessed to be loved by thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved sister and friend, Rachel Childs; numerous nieces and nephews and her lifelong friend Janice Carroll.
