Mrs. Rita Alyne McCardle Holley of Samson, Alabama went home to be with her Lord
and Savior Saturday, July 19, 2014, at her home with her husband and children by her
side.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 in the Chapel of Sorrells Funeral
Home in Geneva with the Rev. John Holley officiating. Burial will follow in the Eight Mile
Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continue until service time.
Mrs. Holley was born November 25, 1944 in Jackson, MS to the late Lloyd and Katherine Batton McCardle of Wesson, MS. She led a full life, was loved by all she met and never met a stranger. In her career, she was a secretary in the civil service for the United States Government and worked her way up to be the secretary for the Commanding General of the 1st Infantry and also for the Commanding General of the 3rd Infantry while in Germany.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy McCardle Calhoun of Hazlehurst, MS.
She is survived by her husband of more than 48 years Robert Holley of Samson, AL; her son, Daniel Holley and wife Lorraine of Cynthiana, KY; her daughter, Dara Holley Brown and husband Keith of Crystal Springs, MS; her step-son, Joseph Wayne Holley Osborne of Goldsboro, NC; her brother, Joe McCardle and wife Duretha of Bay St. Louis, MS; nine grandchildren: Jeff Holley, Cassandra Florence, Amanda Holley, Sarah Holley Galloway, Jenifer Speed, Robert Florence, Emily Holley, Aliyah Brown and Ivy Brown; one great-grandson, Jackson Galloway; many nieces and nephews.
