Rosa Hubbard Kulik, affectionately known as Rosa to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2024, in her hometown of Dothan, Alabama, after an extensive battle with cancer. Born on February 2, 1949 to the late John Tryon Hubbard, Sr. and Maryanne Strickland Hubbard, Rosa’s life was a testament to her enduring spirit and the love she cultivated throughout her 74 years.

Rosa was a graduate of Dothan High School, the class of 1967. Her thirst for knowledge and personal growth led her to further her education at Wallace Community College and Troy State University. Rosa’s entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as she founded and operated her beloved Bella Rosa Cottage, a testament to her creativity and business acumen. She also dedicated much of her time as the Office Manager for the Southeast Alabama Dance Company.

Family was the cornerstone of Rosa’s world. She shared a beautiful and enduring partnership with her husband, Timothy Kulik. Together, they blended a family that included her children, Christopher Joyner (Krista), Bryan Joyner, Lauralee Rotchford (Joshua), Michael Joyner, and Amy Barajas (Anthony), as well as her step-daughter, Bernice Brumari. Rosa’s role as a grandmother was one she cherished deeply, her grandchildren included Annabel Joyner, Holden Joyner, Ariel Martin (Seth), Kaden Joyner, Colby Joyner, Elijah Rotchford (Hallie), Ethan Rotchford, Jackson Joyner, Madison Barajas, Gabriel Barajas, and Alex Brumari, as well as a great-grandson, Miles Rotchford. She is also survived by her brother John Hubbard, Jr. (Elaine).

Rosa’s interests and hobbies were a reflection of her zest for life and her sociable nature. She had a talent for making jewelry, a craft that allowed her to express her creativity and share her art with others. Rosa’s love for life was infectious, and she was known for her fun, loving, and lighthearted approach to every day. Her social calendar was always full, a testament to the many friends she made easily and kept close throughout her life.

Those who knew Rosa will remember her as the epitome of kindness, love, and creativity. She had a gift for making everyone around her feel special and valued, and her legacy is one of warmth and generosity. Rosa’s ability to light up a room with her smile and laughter will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Rosa’s life was a beautiful mosaic of the roles she played: a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother, a treasured friend, and a respected entrepreneur. Her impact on the community of Dothan and beyond will be felt for generations to come.

As we say goodbye to Rosa Hubbard Kulik, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and beautiful memories. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, and her memory will be held in our hearts forever. Rosa’s journey on this earth may have concluded, but the story of her life will be recounted with admiration and love for years to come.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church Dothan with Reverend Matt Langford officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 3 PM, Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home and Friday, February 16, 2024 from 5 PM until 7 PM.
