Mrs. Ruby Olene Brown, a resident of Dothan, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015. She was 70.
Born June 5, 1945 in Florida to the late Daniel Charles and Fannie Lou Gordon, she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. A graduate of Red Level High School, Mrs. Brown was also a graduate of cosmetology school at Wallace College. She was a truck driver for several years and drove a bus for Dothan City Schools. Employed at TGIFriday’s for several years as a hostess, she was also known as “The Green Bean Lady.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sellers G. Gordon and Annie Ruth Gordon; her husband, John A. Brown; her brothers, Robert David Gordon and Dan Charles Gordon, Jr.; her sister, Dorothy Sue McKinney; her son, Danny Victor Warthen; and her grandson, Travis Medford Schuman.
She is survived by her daughters, Tina Marie (Zachary) Bond and Gloria Jean (Wayne) Cruit; her sisters, Faye (Joe) Dean, Peggy Peabody, Helen (Robert) Westmoreland, and Dorothy Phillips; her brother, Kenneth (Cat) Brown; her grandchildren, Brittney Woodham, Stephanie Butler, Austin (Cat) Schuman, and Saige Bond; her great-grandchildren, Katy McConnell, Noah McConnell, and Daniel Schuman; special friends, B. J. Albertson, Pat Dorman, and Sheila Tew-Tibbits; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, June 26, 2015 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with inurnment following in Memory Hill Cemetery.
