Mrs. Ruby Mae Cobb Mixon of Dothan died Monday, June 18, 2012, at her residence. She was 87.


 


Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Thursday, June 21, 2012, at the Hodgesville Baptist Church with Reverends Bill Hart, Jeff Peacock and Mark Bristow officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


 


The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, June 20, 2012. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the Hodgesville Baptist Church Building Fund, or Advantage Hospice.


 


Mrs. Mixon was born February 17, 1925, in Houston County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Travis Cobb and Toy Howell Cobb. She was a longtime member of Hodgesville Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She loved working in her yard and also loved to quilt.


 


She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wester Mixon, Jr; sons, Billy Frank and Timothy, daughter, Charlotte, sisters, Mary Lizzie Brackin, Marie Hughes, and brother, Charles Cobb.


 


Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Peterman and her husband, Harvey of Dothan; Patricia Neece of Valdosta, GA; Ellen Newell and her husband, Tracy of Dothan; son, Johnny Mixon and his wife, Sherry of Land O’ Lakes, FL; sisters, Minnie Bell Hall of Dothan; Hazel Peterman and her husband, Harold of Dothan; brother, Roy Cobb and his wife, Evelyn of Rehobeth; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.


 


Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
