ECHO COMMUNITY…Mrs. Ruby Marie Bayne Snell, a resident of the Echo Community, died early Saturday morning, September 9, 2023, in a Dothan hospital. She was 96.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 12, 2023, in the Echo Methodist Church with Reverend Phil Craddock officiating. A eulogy will be given by Mr. Bill Ferguson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church.


            Mrs. Snell, daughter of the late Clayton Oscar Bayne and Zille Sewell Bayne, was a native of the Sylvan Grove Community of Dale County and has lived in the Echo Community most of her lifetime. She will always be known as a devoted and loving Christian wife, and grandmother. Mrs. Snell enjoyed gardening, cooking, and hummingbirds. One of her favorite things to do, was to call everyone in her family on their birthdays. She was a member of the Echo Methodist Church. Mrs. Snell was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Gibson “Gib” Snell; a grandchild, Taylor Bell; two sisters, Susie Bayne Snell and Ouida Brown; two brothers, JC Bayne and Eugene Bayne.


            Surviving relatives include her son, Larry Snell (Georgia), Dothan; her daughter, Mabel M. Miller, Echo Community; four grandchildren, Sherri Riley (Tim), Todd Snell (Leanne), Rickey Miller (Mary), and Telisa Glover (Tommy); great-grandchildren, Julia, Hope, Cole, Brittney, Gage, Sara, Emily, Ashley, Samantha, Kyle, Tesia, and Morgan; great-great-grandchildren, Damon, Riley, Kaden, Jayce, Ivey, Maverick, Ellie, Johnathon, Brandon, Gunner, and Olivia; nieces, nephews, and cousins.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be James Snell, Gene Snell, Todd Snell, Cole Riley, Tim Riley, and Andy Smith.
