Ruby Maxine Bass, of Dothan, Alabama passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Westside Terrace. She was 100 years old.


Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Private Graveside services with immediate family will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Memory Hill Cemetery with Reverend Ed Onley officiating and Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing.


Serving as active pallbearers will be Robbie Gainous, Danny Parris, Steve Hicks, Josh Parris, Jamison Hicks and Colby Gainous.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 416 Bethlehem Road, Midland City, Alabama 36350.


Born in Nash County, North Carolina, Maxine was a daughter of the late Thomas Haywood and Maudie Strickland Wester.  Mrs. Bass was retired from nursing and was a long time member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, T.C. and W.M. Wester and a sister, Frances Lampe.


Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce Bass Gainous  and Reverend Gene Gainous, Dothan, AL;  three grandchildren, Susan (Steve) Hicks, Pam (Danny) Parris, Robbie (Patti) Gainous; four great grandchildren, Josh (Kerri) Parris, Jamison (Jessica) Hicks, Whitney Parris, Colby Gainous; three great great grandchildren, Sydney and Lilliana Parris, Shelby Parris; two sisters, Lois Murray, Whitakers, NC and Pat Garris, Lancaster, SC; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
