Ruth Ann Wofford born January 12, 1939 in Rockport Illinois. After a long battle of illness, she passed away on February 16, 2020 at Southeast Health at the age of 81.
Mrs. Wofford grew up in Pike County Illinois until she married John Dewey Wofford on November 9, 1956 in Troy, Missouri. After they were married, they moved to Georgia where all 7 of their children were born. In 1967 they moved back to Illinois where they owned and operated a Gas Station until moving to Alabama in 1979. After moving to Alabama, Mrs. Wofford had many different careers that she loved. Before retiring, she worked for Hobo Pantry for about 14 years.
Mrs. Wofford was preceded in death by her grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Tuttle; parents Marion & Annabelle Tuttle Davis, as well as her husband of 57 years, the late John Dewey Wofford; one sister; a brother; 3 grandchildren, as well as one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Wofford is survived by 3 siblings; 7 children, James (Tawanna) Wofford of Rome, Ga; Tammie (Danny) Everidge of Columbia, Al; John Wofford of Dothan, Al; Bill Wofford of Midland City, Al; Ann (Ray) Kindle of New Canton, IL; Robin (Dean) Tedford of Millbrook, AL; Tina Ard of Dothan, AL.
Mrs. Wofford has 32 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Wofford played a role of helping to raise one of her grandchildren Josh Wofford. Mrs. Wofford never met a stranger, she loved everyone. Once someone entered the family, they remained her family. She was loved by all and will be missed by everyone.
Celebration of Life Event will be held from 2 PM until 5 PM, Thursday, February 20, 2020 at The Red Barn on Napier Field Road.
